National Mutt Day is a subsidiary of the Animal Miracle Network, founded by Colleen Paige, a celebrated Pet Lifestyle Expert, Animal Behaviorist, Author, Pet Savvy Interior Designer, Family & Pet Safety Expert, founder of numerous national pet holidays and organizations such as Animal Miracle Network and Pet Photographers of America and the Editor-in-Chief and Publisher of "Colleen Paige's Pet Home Magazine.

Colleen's determination to save as many animals as she can, is evident in all the projects she is currently involved in. She is pictured here with her rescued female black Lab mix, Sailor - her inspiration for creating National Mutt Day. Colleen chose December 2nd as the date for this day, in honor of her father, Robert Paige, who's birthday was Dec. 2nd. Colleen's father was the one who rescued her first dog, a mixed breed named Sheltie.

Both Sheltie and Robert passed away too early in life, but Colleen takes comfort in knowing that they are together now, celebrating this day, that is so greatly needed, for all the lost souls out there looking for a forever home.
